Two weeks ago, on February 21st, I wanted to write a post about being exactly 6 months away from the wedding.  But you may remember that February 20th was our last anniversary and we stuffed ourselves with delicious Italian food and looots of wine, beer, and good music.  So I spent the better part of Sunday nursing a small hangover, watching movies on the couch, and soaking in some sun at the dog park and never did get around to writing that post.  So now I’m sitting here and thinking I should really write this post and I realized that I’m at 5 1/2 months now.  The difference between 5 and 6 months is kind of a big one…it seems so much closer when you say that!  Therefore, I’m banning the “5 months” phrase and saying “less than 6 months.”  It helps my sanity.

So, with less than 6 months to go, I feel as though I’ve done next to nothing.  But others seem to think we’ve done a lot.  Let’s run it down:

Venue: Have one, never seen it, doubting it as we are constantly reminding them of things they promised us and what we want.  Sigh.
Catering: Included in venue, doubting for same reasons, plus we won’t taste it before the wedding, so hoping for the best.
Photographer: Have a great one.  Thank god.  By the way, look at this event she just shot.  I seriously can’t wait for her to shoot our wedding.
Bridesmaid’s Dresses: Already told them what to get, assuming they’re all on it.
Groomsmen’s Suits: Ritchie told them what to get, assuming they’re on it as well.
Flower Girl Dress: I told her to go to David’s Bridal and have a blast picking one she likes.
Hair: My future mother-in-law, who spent years in NY as a hair stylist on a rather popular soap opera, offered to do my hair early on.

Things I’m hopefully close to having:
Dress: Own one, but am doubting I will wear it.  Gotta resell it and purchase another.  I have 2 appointments the weekend of the 26th.
Suit: Ritchie’s got a J. Crew appointment on Saturday and if it proves unsuccessful, I have allotted time afterward to drag him to Nordstrom.
DJ: Priced out two companies, but not confident in either.  Will call another one this weekend.
Officiant: Talked to my cousin, just have to convince Ritchie it’ll be okay to get our marriage license signed the day before.  He’s still debating.
Save the Dates: Le sigh.  Might be ready Saturday.  Will go over that whole adventure at some point in the future.

Things I don’t have/haven’t planned at all:
Florist, Cake (will get 2-3 small ones so they don’t need as much notice), Cake Topper, Videographer, Invitations, Centerpieces, Decor, Favors, Shoes, Veil, Jewelry, Flower Girl basket, Wedding Bands, Veil, Shoes, Jewelry, Make Up person, Programs, Table Number Cards, Escort Cards, Guestbook, Card Box, Bridal Shower, Bachelorette Party, Rehearsal Dinner…

That’s not accounting for the 1 million things that I am certainly forgetting.  Yikes…good thing it’s just less than 6 months and not something crazy like 5 months…right?
